As it did last year, the 2020 Asbury Park Music + Film Festival will screen rare and never-before-shown-in-public clips from Bruce Springsteen’s archives, April 25 at 4 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre. Springsteen’s frequent film collaborator Thom Zimny and Backstreets magazine Chris Phillips will also be on hand, again, to discuss the clips, but there is no guarantee that Springsteen himself will join them, as he did last year.
A press release describes the event — which is being co-presented by the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University in West Long Branch – as “celebrating 20 years of collaboration in film between Bruce Springsteen and Thom Zimny.”
Tickets, priced at $25 and $30, are available at apmff.org/tickets. Passes for those interested in attending multiple festival events are also available.
The festival, which helps fund music education projects in the Asbury Park area, will also feature an evening with “The Sopranos” creator David Chase, April 25; a Melissa Etheridge concert, April 23; a screening of rare Bob Dylan clips, April 26, and more to be announced. For information and updates, visit apmff.org.
The announcement of the Springsteen screening comes three days after he made an unbilled appearance at the Paramount Theatre, at the Light of Day festival.
