New Jersey has an important new outdoor concert venue: The Mercer County Park Festival Grounds, in West Windsor. With more than 200,000 square feet and a 2,200 square foot stage, the amphitheater will offer a “a full calendar of live shows and events” this summer, according to a press release that also confirmed the first major concert: Barenaked Ladies, on July 2, with Violent Femmes and Colin Hay of Men at Work opening.

According to the web site, there will also be a smaller show — a tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel featuring Craig A. Meyer and Donnie Kehr — on June 6.
According to the press release, the venue will host a free concert series as well as a three-day Freedom Festival and heritage fairs, as well as ticketed concerts by several national acts.
