Responding to the death, Monday, of Tom Petty, Bobby Bandiera will make his Nov. 5 concert at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank a Petty tribute, titled “Runnin’ Down a Dream.”
Tickets, priced from $29 to $49, will go on sale Oct. 6 at noon; visit CountBasieTheatre.org. VIP tickets, priced at $99, will include premium seating and a meet-and-greet with Bandiera. Some of the show’s proceeds will go to the MusiCares charity, which named Petty its Person of the Year, earlier this year.
In April, Bandiera presented a tribute to The Traveling Wilburys and the non-Wilburys music of its members, including Petty, at the Basie.
“God bless Tom Petty,” Bandiera wrote in a message posted today on the theater’s web site. “He was one of the great American singer-songwriters, maybe one of the last great American singer-songwriters. His music has always affected me, and always will.”
The Nov. 5 show had previously been planned as a tribute to The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Creedence Clearwater Revival and others, titled “Rebels, Roots & Rock.”
