(May 4 Update: Because of the threat of inclement weather, this event has been postponed to May 19.)

Buster Poindexter will headline the spring edition of the biannual Hoboken Arts and Music Festival, May 5. As usual, the event will take place on Washington Street in downtown Hoboken, with three stages, and art and food vendors lining the street, and no admission charge. Other performers will include the Karyn Kuhl Band, Maxima Alerta, Sonic Blume, the Joe Taino Group, Debra Devi and Gene D. Plumber.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Poindexter performing at 4:30 p.m. For updates, visit hobokennj.gov/departments/cultural-affairs.

Buster Poindexter is, of course, the alter ego of David Johansen, who first gained fame as the frontman of the band The New York Dolls, and has also toured and recorded as a solo artist. The Buster Poindexter persona is a hard-driving, fun-loving showman whose music blends together elements of classic R&B, big band swing, Latin dance music, lounge-pop and more.

In the late ’80s, Buster Poindexter became well known, nationally, via his hit cover of Arrow’s “Hot Hot Hot.”
