Cardi B had been scheduled to open for Bruno Mars on his 24K Magic World Tour dates at the Prudential Center in Newark on Oct. 1-2. But in late July, a few weeks after giving birth to her daughter, she announced that she wouldn’t be mentally or physically ready for the tour, and dropped out.
She will, though, headline radio station Power 105.1‘s “Powerhouse NYC” concert at the Prudential Center in Newark, Oct. 28.
Other performers will include Lil Uzi Vert, Ella Mai, G-Eazy, Lil Baby and Juice Wrld, with “more to be announced,” according to a press release. (Sept. 7 Update: SZA and Lil Duval have now been added to the lineup). Tickets, priced from $39 to $179, go on sale Aug. 30 at 10 a.m., with a pre-sale Aug. 28 at 10 a.m., via Ticketmaster.
When she announced that she was leaving the Bruno Mars tour, Cardi B issued a statement via Twitter, saying:
“I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically. I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.”
Bruno Mars will be using different openers in different cities, in place of Cardi B. In Newark, it will be Ciara.
