Claire Danes, Ethan Hawke, Stephen Colbert to be among those appearing at Montclair Film Festival

Claire Danes stars with Jim Parsons and child actor Leo James Davis in “A Kid Like Jake,” which will be shown at the Montclair Film Festival.

The seventh annual Montclair Film Festival has announced its program, which will include appearances by Claire Danes, Ethan Hawke, Stephen Colbert, Jeff Daniels, Nick Offerman and Rachel Weisz, among others.

The fest will feature more than 160 screenings, discussions, parties and other events from April 26 to May 6. Many of the high-profile participants will be involved in the festival’s Storyteller Series, which will include:

• Weisz in conversation with Colbert, April 28
• StorySLAM (storytelling event), April 28
• Panel discussion on “The Future of Television,” April 28.
• Offerman in conversation with Patrick Wilson, May 5
• Taylor Mac, May 5
• Daniels in conversation with Colbert, May 5
• Master class with screenwriter Richard Wesley, May 5
• Hawke in conversation with Colbert, May 6

In addition, Taylor Mac will perform “A 24-Decade History of Popular Music (Abridged),”as previously announced, on May 4; and Danes, André Leon Talley, Dan Reynolds (of the band Imagine Dragons) and Paul Schrader will attend post-screening Q&As of movies they are involved in.

The festival will open, on April 26 with Rachel Dretzin’s documentary “Far From the Tree” (based on Andrew Solomon’s book “Far From the Tree: Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity”), while the closing night film, on May 5, will be Don Argott’s “Believer,” about Reynolds.

The festival’s “Narrative Centerpiece” will be “Hearts Beat Loud,” a drama starring Offerman, May 5; and its “Documentary Centerpiece” will be “The Gospel According to André,” about fashion expert Talley, also May 5.

Danes, director Silas Howard and writer Daniel Pearle will participate in a question-and-answer session following a screening of their drama, “A Kid Like Jake,” May 5; and writer and director Schrader will do the same following a screening of his thriller, “First Reformed,” May 6.
