Not just visual arts, but music and comedy as well will be offered at this month’s edition of the Montclair Art Museums’s Free First Thursday Night program.
March 3 from 5 to 9 p.m., those going to the museum will not only be admitted free, but can hear Irish music by an acoustic trio featuring L. E. McCullough (wind instruments), Amy Beshara (fiddle) and Max Carmichael (strings); watch Joe Iovino and Greg Cancro perform Abbott & Costello’s classic “Who’s on First?” routine; participate in the interactive project Once Upon a Dream with artist Juana Rodriguez (by creating miniature dream paintings, drawing or writings and attaching them to a giant dream catcher sculpture); and take a drawing class featuring a clothed model.
Attendees can also see all the museum’s regular exhibits, too, of course, including the new “American Visions: 1870–1940, Works from the Bank of America Collection” (with docent-led tours at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.).
Upcoming Free First Thursday Nights offerings include a preview of the Montclair Film Festival lineup on April 7; a talk by video artist Noah Klersfeld on May 5; and a performance by contemporary dance group Moving Architects on June 2.
