Fest for Beatles Fans returns to NJ

by JAY LUSTIG

This year’s Fest for Beatles Fans will take place in Jersey City, March 3-5.

The Fest for Beatles Fans, an annual event in the New York metropolitan area, has taken place at various venues since first being presented in 1974. For many years, the convention was in Secaucus, and it was in Rye Brook, N.Y., last year, But it will return to New Jersey this year, taking place at the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City, March 3-5.

The festival’s guests will include Klaus Voormann (who played bass for Manfred Mann for several years in the ’60s, did the cover collage on The Beatles’ Revolver album, and played on various Beatles members’ solo projects); Wings members Laurence Juber and Denny Seiwell; Joey Molland of Badfinger; Billy Kinsley of The Merseybeats and Liverpool Express; Ringo Starr collaborators Mark Rivera and Seth Hudson; George Harrison’s sister Louise; and the bands The Weeklings, Liverpool and Birds of Paradox.

Also, of course, there will be all the usual attractions: memorabilia vendors, battles of the bands, art exhibits and contests, movie screenings, trivia and games, presentations by Beatles authors, karaoke, children’s activities and more.
