Few, if any, New Jersey towns have a more impressive series of free summer concerts than Woodbridge.
The first show in the 2016 Mayor’s Summer Concert Series, by The Dalton Gang, is less than a month away (June 10), and the last, by the Tomoko Ohno Trio, is on Sept. 9. In between, many weeks feature five or even six shows. National acts include Willie Nile, Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre’s band, Radney Foster, Jeffrey Gaines, Meta and the Cornerstones, and The Hot Club of Cowtown.
Mondays are devoted to oldies, Tuesday to tribute bands, Thursdays to local bands, Sundays to country, and the second Friday of each month to jazz. Many of the national acts are booked on Wednesdays.
Here is the schedule, with the locations in parentheses, following this code: WHS for Woodbridge High School; PPP for Parker Press Park; TP for Tanzman Park; FPP for Frank Pelzman Park in Avenel; and AWP for Alvin Williams Park in Sewaren.
