Gregg Allman has canceled all his concert dates through mid-October due to “serious health issues,” according to a press release. These include co-headlining dates with ZZ Top that had been scheduled for the Borgata in Atlantic City on Aug. 26 and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel on Sept. 1.
According to the press release, Allman is planning to begin performing again in late October.
“I want to thank my fans and friends for supporting me while I rest up and focus on getting better and back on the road as soon as I can,” Allman said in the press release. “I’ve been working hard with my band, my pride and joy, to play our music for everyone. We’ll see y’all in October.”
The nature of Allman’s illness has not been disclosed. He was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 2007, and received a liver transplant in 2010.
Aug. 7 update: ZZ Top has posted a message on its Facebook page saying: “We are disappointed that Gregg Allman’s health precludes his touring with us. We wish our friend a speedy recovery. Notwithstanding, our fall tour dates will go on as planned and expect to give you an update on these in the very near future. Stay tuned!”
Aug. 10 update: The Borgata show has now been cancelled, though the Holmdel show seems to still be on.
Aug. 12 update: Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes will open for ZZ Top in Holmdel.
