BOB DELEVANTE

The Hoboken Historical Museum will show Bob Delevante's photos of the St. Ann Italian Festival from July 21 to Aug. 25.

This year’s edition of Hoboken’s beloved annual St. Ann Italian Festival, also known as the St. Ann Feast, will take place from July 24 to July 28. And from July 21 to Aug. 25, the Hoboken Historical Museum will offer an exhibition titled “On the Steps of St. Ann’s: A Collection of Photographs from The Feast 2001-2022 by Bob Delevante.”

If you are a music fan, the name Bob Delevante may be familiar to you. He and his brother Mike, who both grew up in Rutherford, co-founded the band The Delevantes, who were based in Hoboken in the ’90s and now are based in Nashville, where Bob also owns his own design and photography studio. (The Delevantes’ last album was 2021’s excellent A Thousand Turns, co-produced by their longtime collaborator, E Street Band member Garry Tallent.)

The festival is organized by St. Ann Catholic Church and takes place at Seventh and Jefferson streets.

There are 16 photos in the exhibition. “The beer garden in the courtyard behind the church and streets surrounding St. Ann’s never seem to change,” said Bob Delevante in a press release. “There are always some new faces but many of the old regulars as well. The sausage and pepper sandwiches, cold beer, and zeppoles never seem to change!

“Some of my photographs were taken in 2001, and then periodically right up through this last Feast. You’d be hard-pressed to tell one year from another. And that’s why I love going back there — Hoboken will always be the little town I left many years ago, at least for that week in July.”

For more on the exhibition, visit hobokenmuseum.org. There will be an opening reception, July 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. and an online artist talk, July 22 at 7 p.m.
