Howard Stern says Jon Stewart should run for president

JON STEWART

It’s not going to happen. But on his SiriusXM satellite radio show today, Howard Stern says he believes that comedian, political activist and New Jerseyan Jon Stewart should run for president.

“When Jon Stewart hosted ‘The Daily Show,’ they said that he was the most trusted newsman in the country,” said Stern. “Like, Walter Cronkite-trustworthy. When you hear this guy talk, whether he’s supporting army veterans … whatever it is … the guy is so fucking smart and bright, and also witty, and really measured when he takes on a debate. … he knows how to talk, and you know he would work his ass off to be a good president.”

When Stern’s co-host, Robin Quivers, pointed out that Stewart — who has appeared as a guest on “The Howard Stern Show,” numerous times — gave up hosting “The Daily Show’ because it was too much work, Stern responded, “he owes it to his country to run.”

Stern also noted that the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a former comedian and actor as well.

In 2022, political advisor Juleanna Glover made the case — not unseriously, in a post on Politico — that Stewart should run for president in 2024, if Joe Biden does not.

“Ummm…No thank you,” Stewart responded, on Twitter, at the time.

Stewart, who grew up in Lawrenceville and lives in Colts Neck, currently hosts “The Problem With Jon Stewart” on Apple TV+. Here is a clip of him discussing gun control with Oklahoma State Sen. Nathan Dahm.
