Wyckoff artist Thomas Ryder’s simple but arresting glass sculpture “Reflections (Man Made Beauty),” shown above, is part of the 2015 New Jersey Arts Annual exhibition being presented at the Morris Museum in Morris Township through April 19.
The theme of the exhibition is “Accessorize — The Person and the Place”; the idea is to showcase artists who have found innovative ways to “accessorize” people as well as places through jewelry, fashion, furniture, sculpture etc. More than 60 objects are on display.
Free panel discussions with the artists will be held March 19 at 6 p.m., and April 10 at 2 p.m.
Twenty-seven Jersey artists were selected by Angela Sergonis-Melchionne, associate curator of the Morris Museum, and Ronald T. Labaco, a curator at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. In addition to Ryder, they are: Jill Baker Gower of Sewell, Judy Beck of Essex Fells, Pamela Becker of Flemington, Marilyn Belford of Caldwell, Tom Biron of Chester, Clifford Blanchard of Morristown, Veronica Byun of Jersey City, Linda Rae Coughlin of Warren, Joan Cummings of Gillette, Gary DiBenedetto of Hillsborough, Linda Friedman Schmidt of Franklin Lakes, Buren Gilpin of Manasquan, Susan Holford of Denville, Liz Kuny of Morristown, Kevin Kurie of Sparta, Maria Lupo of Roseland, Kenneth MacBain of Morristown, Elizabeth Mackie of Frenchtown, Liz Mitchell of Pittstown, Andrew Pawlan of Asbury Park, Kathleen Rebek of Englewood, Randy Sheer of Little Falls, Ellen Weisbord of South Orange, Jennifer Wroblewski of Montclair, Bern Yates of Oxford and Wendy Yothers of Garfield.
