Joan Baez is calling her upcoming tour her “final formal North American tour,” meaning that while she may do some concerts in the future, she’ll never again do a full, extensive tour.

Titled Fare Thee Well …, the tour will come to the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, Sept. 25, as well as the Beacon Theatre in New York, Sept. 21-22, and Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Sept. 26.

Red Bank tickets go on sale March 2 at noon; visit TheBasie.org.

Baez, 77, will release a new album, Whistle Down the Wind, on March 2, on the Bobolink/Razor & Tie label. It was produced by Joe Henry and features songs written by him as well as by Tom Waits & Kathleen Brennan (“Last Leaf” and the album’s title track), Josh Ritter, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Eliza Gilkyson and others.

A CD or digital download of the album will be included with the purchase of every tour ticket.
