When asked to name the most memorable concerts I’ve been to in New Jersey, a show that always makes my short list is one by Robert Randolph & the Family Band — when they were just starting out, in 2001 — at the Stanhope House. So I’m particularly happy to announce that the band’s keyboardist at that show, John Ginty, will co-headline Jay’s Jersey Jams, Vol. 3, a benefit for NJArts.net that will take place at the Stanhope House, March 18 at 6:30 p.m.

John Ginty & Friends and The Shockenaw Mountain Boys will co-headline the show, which will also feature The Porchistas and The Outcrops. All the acts, naturally, are from New Jersey. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 day of show; visit stanhopehousenj.com.

(Update, 3/1: Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Marcus Randolph, also an original member of Robert Randolph’s Family Band, will perform with Ginty, as a special guest.)

The Shockenaw Mountain Boys also performed at Jay’s Jersey Jams, Vol. 2, which took place at Crossroads in Garwood last year; other performers included Tony Trischka, Barry Mitterhoff, Kinderhook and Lisa Bouchelle.

The Porchistas were one of the bands at Jay’s Jersey Jams, Vol. 1, which took place at Crossroads in 2016 with Pat DiNizio, Richard Barone, The Weeklings, The Grip Weeds and many others.

In addition to Randolph, Ginty has played with artists ranging from The Dixie Chicks to Bad Religion, Jewel, Redman and Matthew Sweet throughout his career. He has also established himself as a solo artist. His latest album was last year’s Rockers, a collaboration with singer Aster Pheonyx.

The Shockenaw Mountain Boys is a side project of the hugely popular roots band Railroad Earth, and features three of that band’s members — violinist, guitarist and vocalist Tim Carbone, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Andy Goessling, and mandolinist John Skehan — along with former Railroad Earth bassist Johnny Grubb.

The Porchistas, based in Montclair, received national attention last year with their protest song, “Mr. Chump.”

The Outcrops is a relatively new band from Sussex County fronted by singer-songwriter Cassidy Rain.

Many thanks to all the musicians, and to Tom Skevin for organizing the show.

Please come out on March 18 to hear some great music, and support NJArts.net!
