Drumroll, please …
Let history take notice: Jon Bon Jovi tweeted his first tweet on Twitter on Oct. 16, 2017.
Verified at @jonbonjovi, and identifying himself as “Jon Bon Jovi || Singer || Songwriter || Last guy to use social media,” the Sayreville-raised rock star tweeted 51 characters this morning: “Hello world. Is this thing on? #BetterLateThanNever“.
He accompanied the message with a photo of himself looking out a window.
According to his Twitter page, he activated the account sometime in September — I guess it took a few weeks to come up with those characters — and has approximately 14,700 followers as of 9 p.m. Oct. 16. That number will surely grow rapidly.
Also as of 9 p.m., he is only following 10 accounts, and they are all band-connected (the official Bon Jovi account @BonJovi, his manager Irving Azoff, Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan and so on).
He has “liked” four tweets so far, including one from @BonJoviUpdates with a GIF of three cheering minions and a message reading “Welcome, Overlord! We’ve anticipated your arrival with bated breath. We bow before your musical excellence! Love, Your minions.”
I couldn’t have said it better.
