JORDAN RUDESS

Jordan Rudess, who plays keyboards in the progressive-rock band Dream Theater, has scheduled a solo tour for May; it will feature Dream Theater songs and other rock material “reimagined” for piano. Two of the stops will be socially distanced concerts in New Jersey: May 15 at the South Orange Performing Arts Center; and May 22 at The Vogel at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank.

Just 100 tickets will be sold to see Rudess in South Orange, though an unlimited number of fans can buy tickets to view a livestream. Visit sopacnow.org.

Tickets for Red Bank go on sale Jan. 29 at 10 a.m., with pre-sales starting Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. Visit ticketmaster.com.

Rudess said in 2018, of a similar tour he was doing then, “Many of my fans only know me as a progressive rock keyboardist but piano is where it all started for me. Sitting at the piano has always felt like the most natural way for me to express my musicality.”

A Long Island native, Rudess joined Dream Theater in 1999, though he has also released about a dozen solo albums since then.
