Actor Keanu Reeves’ rock band Dogstar, which released albums in 1996 and 2000, is back together with an album due out Oct. 6 and a planned tour that will come to Sound Waves at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, Oct. 8. Atlantic City tickets go on sale Aug. 25 at 10 a.m., with pre-sales having already begun; visit ticketmaster.com.
You can listen to their recent single, “Everything Turns Around,” below. The album, titled Somewhere Between the Power Lines and the Palm Trees, will be released on the band’s own label, Dillon Street.
Reeves, who plays bass, is joined in the group by singer-guitarist Bret Domrose and drummer Robert Mailhouse. The album grew out of jam sessions the three participated in, during the pandemic.
“I missed playing together, I missed writing together, I missed doing shows together. It’s something I’ve always missed,” Reeves said in an interview with Billboard. “We came to a spot where we weren’t playing anymore, and I missed it … Once we started to play, and it felt good, and really positive and creative, that’s when it was like, ‘Okay, let’s make this happen.’ ”
Other Dogstar tour stops will include the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Oct. 7; the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, Oct. 10; the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, Dec. 11; and Underground Arts in Philadelphia, Dec. 14.
