The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank will present a Last Waltz tribute, Nov. 4.
Ryan Bingham, Jamey Johnson, Don Was and former Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers members Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench will participate in a tour this fall paying tribute to The Band’s legendary 1976 Last Waltz concert. “Life Is a Carnival: The Last Waltz Tour 24” will come to The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, Nov. 4, with tickets going on sale Aug. 16 at 10 a.m., and pre-sales beginning Aug. 14 at noon; visit ticketmaster.com.
Other Northeast shows will include The Beacon Theatre in Manhattan, Nov. 6; The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, Nov. 7-8; and The Met in Philadelphia, Nov. 9.
Among those joining the above musicians on the tour will be John Medeski (of Medeski, Martin & Wood), Cyril Neville (of The Neville Brothers), Dave Malone (of The Radiators), Terence Higgins (of The Dirty Dozen Brass Band) and Mark Mullins (of Bonerama).
According to tour producer Blackbird Presents, “This tour also celebrates the legacy of the Band’s co-founder Robbie Robertson, and immediately follows the one night only concert celebration of Robbie at Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California on October 17, 2024, entitled ‘Life Is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson.’ ”
Robertson died last year at the age of 80, leaving only one original Band member, Garth Hudson, still alive.
