In an event that is bound to be somewhat reminiscent of “Springsteen on Broadway,” Melissa Etheridge will present a solo show, “My Window — A Journey Through Life,” off-Broadway, at New World Stages (340 W. 50th St.), Oct. 13-16, 20-23 and 26-29 at 8 p.m. Visit melissaetheridge.com for information, and to buy tickets.
According to the web site, the show “offers an intimate experience like never before, inviting theatergoers into an exhilarating evening of storytelling and music. From tales of her childhood in Kansas to her groundbreaking career highlights — with all of life’s hits and deep cuts between — Etheridge opens her heart & soul on stage to fearlessly dazzle audiences of all generations.”
In a video posted to YouTube (and embedded below), Etheridge told a concert audience, “another one of my childhood dreams is coming true … it’s a one-woman Broadway show. … this show is an opportunity for me to actually go through my life and really tell the story … all the ups and downs. It’s a beautiful stage: I’ve got award-winning set people working for me. And it’s just going to be a dream come true … It’s a very, very special time for me, and it’s healing for me.”
