A dream team of New Jersey roots musicians will perform at a benefit for NJArts.net at Crossroads in Garwood, Oct. 1. The show, titled “Jay’s Jersey Jams, Vol. 2,” will feature the Shockenaw Mountain Boys, Tony Trischka, Barry Mitterhoff, Kinderhook, Lisa Bouchelle, Marvin Sunk and Geoff Doubleday.
All are generously donating their time in order to support NJArts.net and be part of a unique, sure-to-be-exhilarating event.
The Shockenaw Mountain Boys is an adventurous bluegrass band that features Railroad Earth members John Skehan, Tim Carbone and Andy Goessling, along with former RRE member Johnny Grubb.
The concert, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., is being co-produced by NJArts.net contributor Tom Skevin, Crossroads owner Lee Frankel and me. Vol. 1 took place in March 2016, and featured Pat DiNizio, Richard Barone, The Grip Weeds, The Weeklings, The Porchistas, Loretta Hagen and many others.
I started NJArts.net in September 2014, to provide an outlet for coverage of all forms of art, throughout the state, at a time when the media in general is paying less and less attention to them. Benefits such as this one are crucial to the site’s survival.
Advance tickets are just $20 — c’mon, it’s just $20, you can afford it! — and can be purchased via Ticketfly.
Here is the event’s tentative schedule:
6 p.m.: Geoff Doubleday
6:30 p.m.: Marvin Sunk
7:10 p.m.: Lisa Bouchelle
7:55 p.m.: Kinderhook
8:50 p.m.: Barry Mitterhoff
9:25 p.m.: Tony Trischka
10:15 p.m.: Shockenaw Mountain Boys
Many thanks to George Falkowski for putting together this great promo video:
