A benefit for the Old Franklin Schoolhouse in Metuchen, a 200-year-old building that houses an art gallery and arts and community events, can be seen Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. on the Facebook page of Telegraph Hill Records. Telegraph Hill is producing the event in conjunction with Melissa Peterson of the Borough Improvement League of Metuchen, which manages the property. The broadcast is free but viewers will be asked to donate money that will help the Schoolhouse meet its expenses during the pandemic, and continue to fund scholarships.
Petersen works for Telegraph Hill, and this will be this year’s installment of an annual (since 2013) concert celebrating her birthday.
The performers, all from the Metuchen/Edison area or signed to Telegraph Hill, will include Kim Boyko, Bryan Hansen, Joshua Van Ness, Danny Adlerman, Bobby Mahoney, Matt Fernicola, Matt Cook and Nick Ryan. In addition to performing live, some of the artists will also contribute videos, including the new 2020-themed cover of The Waitresses’ holiday classic “Christmas Wrapping” by Boyko and the Bryan Hansen Band.
“We are fitting in a lot of talent in less than two hours for this,” said Petersen, in a press release. “I‘m fortunate to have a lot of friends who wanted to participate, so we made the lineup rapid fire, about ten minutes per artist. Joe Pomarico (Telegraph Hill Records founder and president) will keep it all moving, as he has done for countless fundraisers and events this year. He and all the artists are committed to keeping live music alive without sacrificing quality or the spirit of a ‘real’ show.”
