What will be the next big musical act from New Jersey? I don’t know. But I wouldn’t want to bet against Nalani & Sarina, twin sisters from Flemington with a dynamic stage presence and an ability to write catchy but cliché-free pop songs. If you doubt me, watch their first official video, below, for their song “Get Away.” And if you like the mostly black-and-white clip, you can vote for it in a contest called “You Pick the Video That Gets on Air” that is currently being conducted by mtvU.
There are four other finalists, and the winner gets their song played on mtvU, an MTV sister site that is broadcast on closed-circuit college television systems throughout the country as well as on regular cable systems.
The song is from Scattered World, Nalani & Sarina’s new six-song EP, which features bassist Will Lee of the Fab Faux and the “Late Show with David Letterman.” Lee is a longtime supporter of the duo.
Voting in the contest ends Friday at 2 p.m. For information, visit mtvu.cm. And for more on Nalani and Sarina, visit nalanisarina.com.
