Nicole Atkins, one of New Jersey’s most talented young singer-songwriters, has signed on as a host on SiriusXM satellite radio’s The Spectrum (channel 28), and will be on the air Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. to noon. She will host her first show this Saturday.
According to a press release, she will do the show from SiriusXM’s New York studios but “will also be able to do the show from the road occasionally when she’s touring.”
Atkins released her third studio album, Slow Phaser, last year, and has shows coming up at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park (opening for The Avett Brothers) on Aug. 16, and Webster Hall in New York (opening for JD McPherson) on Oct. 9.
The musical territory of “The Spectrum” is described on the SiriusXM web site as “New Rock Meets Classic Rock.”

Hi Nicole,
I hope this message gets to you. I just heard your rendition of Bowie’s Heroes on the Spectrum. Not only were your vocals amazing but it brought tears to my eyes.
My sister has been battling cancer for past two years. After having the disease at bay for the past half year, we learned Thursday its back with little hope. Losing my sister is going to be just unfathomable and overwhelming.
Thank you for your song…again your voice was amazing and reached my broken heart. ?
Am very sorry to hear about your sister, Joe. Will try to get this message to Nicole.
