NJPAC’s annual Horizon Sounds of the City series of free outdoor concerts returns this summer with artists including the neo-soul duo Kindred the Family Soul, the pioneering New Jersey rap group The Sugarhill Gang, salsa duo Edgar Joel and Anthony Colón, and others.
As has been the Sounds of the City tradition, shows will take place Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. on Chambers Plaza in front of NJPAC’s main entrance. Food and drinks will be available from food trucks and NJPAC’s restaurant, NICO Kitchen + Bar.
Here is a schedule. The July 20 and Aug. 10 shows also will feature performances by alumni, faculty and current students of NJPAC’s Hip Hop Arts & Culture program.
