For the second weekend in a row, The Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park will host a show that’s more than a concert, but a bona fide event.
Last Saturday, it was Darlene Love’s CD release concert, with Steven Van Zandt and a cast of thousands. This Saturday, it’s Glen Burtnik “Love Concert,” during which he will get married to Christina Shafer.
The stage may end up being just as crowded as it was for Darlene Love, as many of Burtnik’s friends have been invited to perform. Expected musical guests include Burtnik’s band The Weeklings, Marshall Crenshaw, Williams Honor (Gordon Brown and Reagan Richards), Tom Brislin, Mark Hudson, Emily Grove, Brielle Von Hugel, Patti Maloney, Remember Jones, Rick Barry, Jerzy Jung and The Burtnix (Beau, Darla Rose and Sally), among many others.
Tickets for this show, which is subtitled “A Rock ‘n’ Roll Celebration,” are $27 to $57, with all proceeds benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
