Carnegie Hall will host a Patti Smith tribute concert, Sept. 26.
The lineup isn’t available yet. But 20 artists will play the music of Patti Smith at Carnegie Hall in New York, March 26, with proceeds benefiting music education programs.
The show will be titled “People Have the Power: A Celebration of Patti Smith.”
VIP tickets are currently available at musicof.org, with general admission tickets going on sale Oct. 22 via carnegiehall.org. The first 150 VIP ticket purchases with include a signed copy of Lynn Goldsmith’s photography book, “Patti Smith: Before • Easter • After”; other amenities, depending on the ticket level, will also be offered.
This is the latest in a series of tribute/benefit concerts presented by Michael Dorf of City Winery. Past editions have honored Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, The Who, David Bowie and others.
While Smith is not confirmed to participate on March 26, she has performed at some of the past shows in the series, so her presence would not exactly be a surprise.
The last show in the series — which honored the songs of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young — took place on May 13 of this year at Carnegie Hall and featured Shawn Colvin, Steve Earle, Iron & Wine, Guster, Rickie Lee Jones, Grace Potter, Todd Rundgren, Yola and others, with Graham Nash performing, as well.
Over the past 20 years, approximately $2 million has been raised in the series.
The year 2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of Smith’s landmark debut album, Horses.
