Paul Stanley of the band Kiss will make an appearance at the Wentworth Gallery at The Mall at Short Hills, Dec. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m., in conjunction with a display of his art.
According to a press release, Stanley “returned to his passion for painting ten years ago by creating portraits and abstracts that are emotionally charged compositions. … He aims to maximize the direct, physical impact of his paintings through scale, texture, color and simplicity of images. In a few short years of exhibiting, Stanley’s works have been acquired by numerous art collectors and he has been commissioned to create large works to be displayed internationally.”
Stanley adds on his website, PaulStanley.com, “The scale is huge, the paint laid on thickly; the colors have been chosen in order to generate a powerfully physical and emotional effect. Paul’s work can be associated with the Abstract Expressionists of the late 1940’s and 1950’s. He aims to maximize the direct, physical impact of his paintings through scale, texture, color and simplicity of images.
“One sees in Paul’s abstracts the influences of Kandinsky, Mondrian, Malevich, Paul Klee and Mark Rothko.”
Kiss, whose career dates back to the early ’70s, has been on its End of the Road World Tour — which it has said will be its last — since early 2019, but there is no end in site. Upcoming shows will take place in Japan, Nov. 30; Mexico, Dec. 4; and Germany in June and July.
