Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band will launch the third leg of their River Tour at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, Aug. 23 and 25. Tickets go on sale May 18 at 10 a.m. (May 16 update: Tickets will be priced at $68, $105 and $150. Also, there will be a 10-ticket per household per show limit, with no more than 6 floor seats, and the entire floor will be general admission, meaning there will be no seats there.)
There are only eight shows on this leg of the tour, though more, of course, could be added.
The new dates are:
Aug. 23 and 25: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford
Aug. 28: United Center, Chicago
Sept. 1: Nationals Park, Washington, D.C.
Sept. 3: Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater, Virginia Beach, Va.
Sept. 7: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
Sept. 11: CONSOL Energy Center, Pittsburgh
Sept. 14: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Mass.
Springsteen and the band performed the album The River in its entirety on the initial U.S. leg of the tour, but will not do so on the upcoming European leg, which runs from May 14 through July 31. They have not announced if they will do so or not, back in the states.
The band lineup will remain the same as it has been so far on the River Tour: Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt, Nils Lofgren, Roy Bittan, Garry Tallent, Max Weinberg, Patti Scialfa, Soozie Tyrell, Jake Clemons and Charles Giordano.
Springsteen released a four-CD, three-DVD boxed set, The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, in December. He is planning to release his biography, “Born to Run,” on Sept. 27, four days after his 67th birthday.
Springsteen joins an impressive MetLife Stadium summer lineup that already includes Hot 97’s Summer Jam with Big Sean, Pusha T, DJ Khaled and others, June 5; Coldplay, July 16-17; Guns N’ Roses, July 23-24; Paul McCartney, Aug. 7; Kenny Chesney, Aug. 20; and Beyoncé, Sept. 7.
