The Who\’s upcoming tour will include stops in Newark and Atlantic City.

Pete Townshend says the setlist of the upcoming Who shows will include “hits, picks, mixes and misses,” so in other words, expect some surprises along with the usual hits when the band’s 50th anniversary tour, titled “The Who Hits 50!,” comes to New Jersey. Among the shows announced today are stops at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, May 22, and the Prudential Center in Newark, Oct. 25, 2015.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 17, with various pre-sales beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 11.

The tour, featuring original Who members Townshend and Roger Daltrey, begins April 15 in Tampa, with 20 shows through May 30, and then another 24 dates from Sept. 14 to Nov. 4, 2015. Other northeast stops include the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, on May 17 and Nov. 4, 2015; the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, May 20; the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, May 26; the Forest Hills Stadium in Forest Hills, New York, May 30; and Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, Oct. 27, 2015.

“This is the beginning of the long goodbye,” said Daltrey in a press release.

“Trying to stay young. Not wearing socks. Growing a great big Woodcutter’s beard,” said Townshend. “Might even wear a check shirt on stage and get a tattoo of a Union Jack. Always a fashion victim. But under no illusions. We are what we are, and extremely good at it, but we’re lucky to be alive and still touring.”

The tour will follow the release of a two-CD anthology, The Who Hits 50!, which will feature a new song, “Be Lucky” (see video below) and be released Oct. 27.
