Red Hot Chili Peppers’ stadium tour will include NJ show

The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ first stadium tour of the United States will include a show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The Strokes and Thundercat will open the Aug. 17 concert, with tickets going on sale Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. (pre-sales start Oct. 8 at 10 a.m.). Visit ticketmaster.com.

The band’s tour will begin June 4 in Spain, with North American dates running from July 23 (in Denver) to Sept. 18 (in Arlington, Texas). The band will also perform at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Sept. 3.

Guitarist John Frusciante, who was previously in the group from 1988 to 1992 and from 1998 to 2009, became a member again in 2019, and will join frontman Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea and drummer Chad Smith on the tour.

The band’s last studio album was The Getaway, in 2016. According to a press release, they will play some material from an upcoming album on the tour.
