Remember Jones’ “Save the Planet” will be released on April 22.

Remember Jones will release a new recording — a cover of the upbeat, gospel-flavored anthem “Save the Planet” from the 1971 album Edgar Winter’s White Trash — as a benefit for GetUsPPE, an organization founded by healthcare workers to get the protective equipment that is widely needed during the coronavirus crisis.

The single will be released on Earth Day (April 22) in association with the Telegraph Hill Records label and all profits from sales and pre-sales, as well as “Save the Planet” T-shirt orders, will be donated to GetUsPPE.

Remember Jones originally recorded the single with a full band plus a horn section and a 20-person choir as a benefit for environmental causes. All the musicians, as well as art designer Daimon Santa Maria and PortMerch (which is handling merchandise sales), are donating their time and volunteering their fees to GetUsPPE.

“As we are all experiencing this global pandemic, there are heroes working on the frontlines who are risking their lives every day,” said Remember Jones in a press release. “Nurses, doctors and hospital workers are dealing with the physical and emotional effects of COVID-19 and working long, stressful hours. Through all of these uncertainties, reading about the critical shortage of personal protective equipment has shocked and saddened me. I have been inspired to do what I can in this time to help — through music and awareness.”

“The song and its title have taken on new meaning since we recorded it in January,” adds Telegraph Hill Records co-founder Joe Pomarico. “Saving the planet and its residents today means staying home and finding ways to support COVID-19 causes from your living room. We found a way listeners could do that early by getting this song out there along with a custom T-shirt as incentive.”
