The long-running charitable concert series known as Rent Party will resume shows, for the first time since the start of the pandemic, March 18, presenting Trip Dogs, Shark Hat and Jane Lee Hooker at the South Orange Elks. For information, visit rentpartylive.com.
The organization has been active since 2009, presenting shows at various venues, including The Woodland in Maplewood, with proceeds being used to fight hunger in the community. Headliners at past shows have included The Feelies, Willie Nile, Marshall Crenshaw, Wanda Jackson, Shemekia Copeland, The Blasters and Chuck Prophet.
According to a message posted on the organization’s Facebook page, going forward, shows will be on the third Friday at each month, at the South Orange Elks (at 220 Prospect St.).
No other shows are currently listed on the Rent Party web site. The Facebook message says: “If you’re a band that’s played our place before reach out and let us know if you’re still doing your thing. If you’re an original band who we haven’t had the pleasure of meeting drop us a note and tell us a little about yourself.”
