David Bryan of Bon Jovi performed with the band at the Prudential Center in Newark, April 7-8. And, on April 14, he will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a member of the band.

But on April 9, he found the time to attend Rodriguez’s concert at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. Check out two photos of him backstage with Rodriguez as well as nine concert shots of Rodriguez — all by Wes Orshoski — below.

As explained in the Oscar-winning 2012 documentary, “Searching for Sugar Man,” Rodriguez (born Sixto Diaz Rodriguez), 75, is a Dylanesque singer-songwriter from Detroit who released two albums in the late ’60s and early ’70s that didn’t sell well in the United States but made him a star — without him even knowing about it, until many years later — in South Africa.

In conjunction with the movie, a soundtrack album — also called Searching for Sugar Man and featuring tracks from his prior releases plus a few songs intended for a never-completed third album — was released.
