The Rock the Bells hip-hop festival will be presented in New Jersey for the first time, with the June 28 show at The Prudential Center in Newark. Tickets to the show, which will be part of the North to Shore Festival, will go on sale April 25 at 10 a.m., with pre-sales having already begun. Visit ticketmaster.com.
The lineup will include Busta Rhymes, Redman, reunion sets by Eric B. & Rakim and Capone-N-Noreaga, Too $hort, Scarface, M.O.P, Remy Ma, Plies, Big Daddy Kane, Boosie BadAzz, KRS-One, Coast Contra and State Property (Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Peedi Crakk, Chris & Neef), with Roxanne Shanté hosting and Kid Capri serving as DJ.
The event will also include a celebration of Uptown Records, with participants including Al B. Sure!, Christopher Williams, Soul for Real, Jeff Redd, Donell Jones, Horace Brown, Monifah, Intro, Mr. Cheeks (of The Lost Boyz), CL Smooth and Father MC.
In a press release, L.L. Cool J (who founded Rock the Bells in 2018), said “We’re celebrating the artists who built the foundation and the new voices pushing it forward, all in one night.”
