Schedule announced for 2024 Montclair Jazz Festival

The Montclair Jazz Festival’s Downtown Jamboree will take place on Sept. 14.

The schedules have been announced for the three stages of the Downtown Jamboree, the culminating event of the 15th annual Montclair Jazz Festival, taking place on Sept. 14. Performers will include Kenny Garrett, Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton, Christian McBride & Inside Straight, Jerome Jennings & ill Philosophy, The Edmar Castañeda Quartet, The Steve Turre Sextet and Brianna Thomas, with comedian Alonzo Bodden co-hosting.

Much of downtown Montclair will be closed to vehicular traffic to allow people to explore the music stages, the food and arts vendors, the festival’s Verizon Family Jazz Discovery Zone, the downtown Montclair stores and more. There will be no admission charge.

The festival is produced by the Montclair-based educational organization, Jazz House Kids.

12:15 p.m.: Jazz House Legacy Band
1:15 p.m.: Steve Turre Sextet
2:30 p.m.: Kenny Garrett: Sounds From the Ancestors
4:15 p.m.: Christian McBride & Inside Straight
6:15 p.m.: Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton
8 p.m.: 15th Anniversary Block Party with DJ Brother Mister (Christian McBride) and DJ Prince Hakim

UPTOWN STAGE at Bloomfield Avenue and Church Street, hosted by Andromeda Turre
12:15 p.m.: Montclair State University Jazz Band featuring Dave Stryker and Steve Nelson
1:45 p.m.: Edmar Castañeda Quartet
3:15 p.m.: Jerome Jennings & ill Philosophy
5 p.m.: Brianna Thomas Band
6:30 p.m.: Jazz House Collective featuring Melissa Walker

VERIZON FAMILY JAZZ DISCOVERY ZONE at Bloomfield Avenue and Wellmont Plaza
Noon and 3:15 p.m.: Montclair Early Music
12:30 and 2 p.m.: Jazz Explorers Program featuring Riza Printup
