Shakespeare Theatre of NJ announces 2015 season

An outdoor production of Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labour’s Lost” and a holiday-themed interpretation of Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor” will be among the offerings of the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in its 2015 season.

Here is the schedule:

May 27-June 21: “The Royal Family,” by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber. The 1927 comedy, loosely based on the great American acting family, the Barrymores.

June 17-July 26: “Love’s Labour’s Lost.” This will be the season’s only production at the Outdoor Stage at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township; the other productions take place at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre at Drew University in Madison.

July 8-26: “The Guardsman” (1910), a romantic comedy by Hungarian playwright Ferenc Molnár.

Aug. 5-30: “The Misalliance” (1910), by George Bernard Shaw.

Sept. 16-Oct. 4: The Jersey premiere of Bill Cain’s “Equivocation” (2009), a fictional imagining of the events of the 1605 Gunpowder Plot in England, with Shakespeare (called Shagspeare) as the main character.

Oct. 14-Nov. 21: Francis Goodrich and Albert Hackett’s “The Diary of Anne Frank,” newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman.

Dec. 2-27: “The Merry Wives of Windsor.”

This year’s marks the 25th anniversary of the tenure of the theater’s artistic director, Bonnie J. Monte, who will direct “The Royal Family” and “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” and be celebrated at the theater’s annual gala, April 25.

Other special events include the March 5 “From Galway to Broadway” concert, with Ciáran Sheehan (who has starred in “The Phantom of the Opera” on Broadway) and Gwen Eagleton, performing traditional Irish songs, Broadway standards and pop tunes; the Halloween-themed season “Something Wicked This Way Comes” (featuring macabre readings from Shakespeare and others), Oct. 26; and the holiday season-themed family show, “Something Merry This Way Comes,” Dec. 14.
