On New Year’s Day — Jan. 1, 2025 — SiriusXM satellite radio’s Real Jazz channel (channel 67) will broadcast a marathon of music recorded at the 15th Montclair Jazz Festival, which took place on Sept. 14. The broadcast will begin at noon and be in the range of 7 to 9 hours, a spokesperson said.
The free festival, which took place on Bloomfield Avenue in downtown Montclair and was produced by the Montclair-based Jazz House Kids educational organization, attracted a crowd of 26,000 people.
Music to be heard on SiriusXM will feature Jazz House Kids artistic director Christian McBride and his band Inside Straight, The Edmar Castañeda Quartet, Jerome Jennings & Ill Philosophy, The Brianna Thomas Band, The Jazz House Legacy Band, The Steve Turre Sextet, The Montclair State University Jazz Band featuring guitarist Dave Stryker and vibes player Steve Nelson, and The Jazz House Collective featuring singer Melissa Walker (who is Jazz House Kids’ founder and president).
The 2025 Montclair Jazz Festival will take place on Sept. 13.
