The Smithereens will celebrate their induction into the New Jersey Hall of Fame the night before, in a show that group member Jim Babjak described as a “Homecoming Concert” in a Facebook post.
The concert takes place at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park — where The Smithereens have performed many times — on Oct. 26.
On Oct. 27, the induction ceremony will be held a short walk up the boardwalk, at the Paramount Theatre.
Marshall Crenshaw will sing and play guitar with original Smithereens members Babjak (guitar), Dennis Diken (drums) and Mike Mesaros (bass) at this concert. Original Smithereens frontman Pat DiNizio died in 2017.
Tickets go on sale Sept. 18 at 10 a.m.; visit ticketmaster.com.
The Smithereens have been confirmed to perform a two-song set at the induction ceremony as well. For tickets to the ceremony, visit ticketmaster.com. Other inductees will include Southside Johnny, Jason Alexander, George R. R. Martin, Tim McLoone, Laurie Hernandez, Harry Carson and Bart Oates.
