Thom Zimny, director and co-producer of the film version of “Springsteen on Broadway” and a longtime Springsteen associate, will appear at a free screening of the film at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, Jan. 13 at 4 p.m.
He’ll give an “extended introduction” to the movie, according to the university’s web site.
“Springsteen on Broadway” ran at New York’s Walter Kerr Theatre from October 2017 to December 2018. The film, which is currently being shown on Netflix, was shot at two invitation-only shows in July 2018.
Since the film is not being released to theaters, the Jan. 13 event represents a rare opportunity to see it on the big screen.
The screening is free, though advance registration is required. Advance registration, though, does not guarantee a seat. Admission will begin at 3 p.m. Jan. 13 on a first-come, first-served basis.
Attendees are being asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to The Nest, the university’s food pantry for students in need. Fulfill (formerly the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties) also will be accepting monetary donations.
