Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa sing backing vocals on “New York Comeback,” a song from Lucinda Williams’ upcoming album, Stories From a Rock N Roll Heart. You can listen to the track below.
The album will be released on June 30. Williams has also written a memoir, “Don’t Tell Anybody the Secrets I Told You,” that will come out on April 25.
Springsteen and Williams have appeared onstage together once, when he made a guest appearance at her 2006 concert at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London.
Others helping out with backing vocals on the album include Jesse Malin, Margo Price, Buddy Miller, Angel Olsen and Tommy Stinson. “New York Comeback” was co-written by Williams, Malin and Williams’ husband and manager Tom Overby.
According to a press release, “The last couple years have been challenging for Williams. In 2020, a tornado damaged her new home in Nashville, followed two weeks later by the beginning of the COVID lockdown. Later that November, Williams suffered a stroke that partially impaired some of her motor skills on the left side of her body, forcing her to learn to walk again and taking away her ability to play the guitar.”
