In an effort to raise money to help it survive the pandemic, the Stanhope House nightclub — a big part of New Jersey’s music scene for decades — will be auctioning off some items that are part of its history. Notices will be posted at the nightclub’s Facebook page on Mondays, and bids will be accepted until the following Saturday.
The first object, posted today, is described as: “Rowe AMI jukebox circa 1965. Loaded with classic 45 rpm (and) in good working order.” Bidding is starting at $500, and subsequent bids must be in $50 increments.
Bids will be accepted until Dec. 19 at noon.
Stanhope House supporters also can help out through a GoFundMe campaign. According to a message on the GoFundMe page, “We are looking for the public to help this great institution so we can continue to support artists and provide entertainment for generations to come. Your donations will contribute to offsetting infrastructure costs while we are forced to remain closed.”
The Stanhouse House, which is housed in a building built in 1794, bills itself as “The Last Great American Roadhouse.”
