State Fair Meadowlands to offer socially distanced rides, and more, in June and July

State Fair Meadowlands 2021

The State Fair Meadowlands will take place this year from June 18 to July 11.

After having to cancel last year, State Fair Meadowlands in East Rutherford — which draws big crowds annually for rides, food and other attractions in the MetLife Stadium parking lot — will be happening this year, and is already selling tickets for every day between June 18 and July 11.

COVID policy will include temperature checks at the entrance; mandatory masks inside; attendance caps to prevent overcrowding; and social distancing on the lines, in the seating areas, at shows and even on the rides themselves.

According to the fair’s website, “We’ve developed plans for each of our rides and attractions to minimize contact between parties and promote social distancing. Strategies for separating guests include leaving empty seats between guests and maximizing ride vehicle designs.”

The fair says there will be 150 rides and attractions; 100 food vendors; 50 game vendors; fireworks on July 3 and 4; and 12 shows that can be seen at no extra charge, including BMX, racing pigs, and magic. There is no word yet on if there will be any musical acts, as there has been in past years.
