The State Theatre in New Brunswick will present “An Evening With George Takei,” subtitled “Where No Story Has Gone Before,” June 20 at 8 p.m., with tickets going on sale Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. There will also be a “Benefactors Donors Presale” Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. Visit stnj.org/event/george-takei.
Takei, 81, is most famous as a “Star Trek” actor, though he is also known for his appearances on television’s “Heroes,” radio’s “The Howard Stern Show,” Broadway’s “Allegiance” (which was inspired by his life) and more.
According to the State Theatre’s website, the event will take place “in honor of Pride Month.” In the course of the evening, the website says, “Takei shares the story of his family’s forced internment as Japanese Americans during WWII — a seemingly forgotten part of American history. He also takes audiences through his rise to celebrity as a Sci-fi icon in Star Trek, his remarkable journey as a social media mega power, and his passionate fight for LGBTQ rights and marriage equality in America — empowering others to beat the odds and make a difference.”
For those purchasing “premium tickets,” Takei will be available for a meet-and-greet after the show.
