The songs from Bruce Springsteen’s album-length response to the events of Sept. 11, 2001, The Rising, will be heard at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park on Sept. 11, 2015, as the Alliance Singers, featuring Michelle Moore, will present a show whose theme is “Celebrating the music of ‘The Rising,’ ” according to the Stone Pony’s website. The Bob Polding Band will open.
The Alliance Singers, whose members include Moore, appeared on the Rising album itself, helping to give it its gospel flavor, and have also backed Springsteen in concert.
Moore was the featured rapper on “Rocky Ground” (see video below) from Springsteen’s 2012 album Wrecking Ball, and has also toured with Springsteen and the E Street Band.
The Alliance Singers grew out of an The Alliance of Neighbors of Monmouth County, a group formed in response to the events of 9/11, to support the families of local 9/11 victims. They sang with Springsteen for the first time at post-9/11 benefit concerts.
