Strand Theater to salute David Bowie Jan. 29, with music and film

Most of the details have not been announced yet, but The Strand Theater in Lakewood will present “A David Bowie Salute,” Jan. 29.

According to a press release, “The night of celebration will include films and music videos on The Strand stage, live acoustic performances by local artists paying tribute, a listening party of his final album, Blackstar, and more.” The lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.

Bowie died on Sunday after an 18-month battle with cancer.

Incidentally, tickets went on sale today for a March 31 Bowie tribute at Carnegie Hall in New York that had been planned before his death. Artists will include Cyndi Lauper, Jakob Dylan, Bettye LaVette, Perry Farrell, Robyn Hitchcock, The Roots, The Mountain Goats, Ann Wilson of Heart and Tony Visconti.
