Asbury Park has an unlikely new concert location: St. John’s Island, located in Sunset Lake (near the Convention Hall complex). The Asbury Park Music Foundation is planning to present weekly, socially distanced shows there from Sept. 13 to Oct. 25.
Proceeds will benefit APMF music education programs for under-served youth in Asbury Park, and support local musicians affected by the pandemic.
The shows will be at 3 p.m., with gates opening at 2:15, with the exception of the Sept. 27 show (2 p.m. starting time, gates at 1:15). Attendees will be assigned a spot, a safe distance from other attendees, and masks will be required.
Here is the schedule.
Sept. 13: Steve Forbert, Ocean Avenue Stompers
Sept. 20: Connor Myers
Sept. 27: Cranston Dean, Jackson Pines
Oct. 4: Bobby Bandiera & Friends
Oct. 11: Sandy Mack & Friends, Stringbean & the Stalkers
Oct. 18: Glen Burtnik & Friends, Emily Grove
Oct. 25: “A Very Asbury Holiday Show” with Tony Perruso, Jillian Rhys McCoy, Eddie Testa, Anthony Krizan, others
