Susanna Hoffs of the band The Bangles has written a novel, “This Bird Has Flown” (Little, Brown and Company, 368 pp., $29) that will be released on April 4. And at 6 p.m. that day, she will meet fans at the Books & Greetings store in Northvale (Bergen County).
She will do the same at The Strand in Manhattan, April 3 at 7:30 p.m.
The Strand event is sold out. The registration fee for Northvale is the purchase of a copy of the book. Visit booksandgreetings.com.
On her Facebook page, Hoffs wrote that the book — whose title, of course, is taken from the Beatles song “Norwegian Wood” — is “about sex, love, and rock & roll!”
In an Entertainment Weekly interview, she said, “I decided to make my protagonist a musician and songwriter because it’s a job I know well. I’ve experienced the joy of making music, the thrill of performing, but also the challenges of being in the music business. I also wanted to give readers a peek behind the curtain of what it’s like to face an audience with your heart thumping so loudly you fear they can hear it too — and then, somehow, to find your voice.”
