Honorees, presenters and ticket information will not be announced until January. But following two amazing events, in 2023 in 2024, the 2025 American Music Honors show presented by The Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music at Monmouth University has been scheduled for April 26 at the West Long Branch university’s Pollak Theatre.
In April 2023, Darlene Love, Sam Moore, Stevie Van Zandt and Steve Earle were honored, with Bruce Springsteen (virtually, because he was suffering from COVID), Southside Johnny and Garry Tallent giving the induction speeches, and Jon Stewart hosting. All the inductees as well as Southside Johnny also performed.
In April 2024, the honorees were John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples and Dion DiMucci, with Springsteen, Van Zandt, Love and Jon Landau giving the speeches, and Brian Williams hosting. All the inductees as well as Springsteen, Van Zandt and Love also performed.
Both years, Van Zandt’s Disciples of Soul served as the house band, performing on their own and backing the other artists.
According to the Archives’ website, springsteenarchives.org, the awards show “aims to celebrate those artists who have demonstrated artistic excellence, creative integrity, and a longstanding commitment to the value of music in both shaping and reflecting American life.”
Although Springsteen’s participation is not guaranteed, he and the E Street Band do not have any shows scheduled for 2025 until their European tour starts on May 14.
