It’s a glaring omission: The Feelies, one of the greatest live bands of their generation, never have released a live album. That will change on Oct. 13, though, with the release of Some Kinda Love, featuring their versions of Velvet Underground songs.
The album was recorded at their Oct. 13, 2018 concert at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, which I reviewed. The show featured a set of Velvet Underground songs, then a set of Feelies originals, and then six encores — the Feelies’ own “Fa Cé-La” and five covers of songs by artists other than The Velvet Underground.
The live album was co-produced by Feelies members Bill Million and Glenn Mercer and will be released by the Hoboken-based Bar/None label.
Here are the songs played in the first set at White Eagle Hall on Oct. 13, 2018. All will be included on the album.
“Sunday Morning”
“Who Loves the Sun”
“There She Goes Again”
“What Goes On”
“Sweet Jane”
“Head Held High”
“I’m Waiting for the Man”
“White Light/White Heat”
“I Heard Her Call My Name”
“New Age”
“That’s the Story of My Life”
“All Tomorrow’s Parties”
“Rock & Roll”
“We’re Gonna Have a Real Good Time Together”
“Run Run Run”
“I Can’t Stand It” (with James Mastro)
“After Hours”
“Oh! Sweet Nuthin'” (with Richard Barone)
Here are a couple of videos from the show:
